In the Footsteps of Heroes – Meeting of Generations

An intergenerational meeting of veterans, Polish immigrants from Belgium and Ukraine, youth, students, scouts, and the academic community of SGMK was organized on November 15 by the Memory of Nations Foundation and the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School. The event was attended by Prof. Gertruda Uścińska, Rector of SGMK.

The meeting was held as part of the project “In the Footsteps of Heroes – Meeting of Generations”, financed through the Polish Community Association by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of the “Polonia and Poles Abroad 2024 – Regranting” program.

The intergenerational meeting was an opportunity to talk, reminisce and build ties between the Polish diaspora and the Homeland. Veterans shared memories of World War II, their struggle for freedom and difficult moments in Polish history.

Participants honored the memory of World War II heroes, listened to moving testimonies of those times, and sang patriotic songs together. The artistic setting was provided by the Hoover Ferajna Band, which led the joint singing of patriotic songs.
