Innovative achievement in Polish medicine: the first simultaneous lung and kidney transplant

Poland’s first simultaneous lung and kidney transplant has been performed in Gdańsk, marking a significant step forward in the field of transplantation. A team of specialists from the University Clinical Center carried out this complex procedure, which required advanced technology and precise planning.

Simultaneous transplantation is not only a medical challenge, but also an opportunity to improve the quality of life of a patient suffering from chronic lung disease and kidney failure. The procedure opens up new possibilities for rehabilitation and return to life activities.

The success of this project has the potential to change the face of Polish transplantation, encouraging more surgeries and increasing the availability of transplants. The university is planning further research in this field, which may contribute to the exchange of experience with other medical centers.

The first simultaneous lung and kidney transplantation is a testament to the determination of the team of doctors and hope for a better future for patients with severe diseases. We encourage you to follow the progress in this innovative field.
