The agreement was signed on behalf of the Holy See by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State; and on behalf of the Czech Republic by Petr Fiala, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic.
The agreement, which consists of 16 articles aimed at further strengthening friendly relations between the Holy See and the Czech Republic, fosters fruitful cooperation between the Church and the State in promoting the common good and the spiritual, human and cultural values of the Czech people.
The new international agreement will be submitted for ratification by the Parliament of the Czech Republic and Pope Francis. It will enter into force on the first day of the month following the exchange of instruments of ratification.
