Prof. Paul Krugman, Nobel Laureate in Economics, creator of the new economic geography and the new theory of international trade will be a special guest at the event crowning the academic year of the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School.   

Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School (SGMK) is a new academic institution that interdisciplinary links five “Copernican” disciplines, running a doctoral school within the colleges of Toruń, Olsztyn, Lublin, Cracow and Warsaw.  

SGMK provides students with direct access to the knowledge of scientists and experts from the top research centers, including many Nobel Prize winners. 

Today, a special lecture entitled “The Future of Europe” will be delivered by Prof. Paul Krugman,  prominent American economist, Nobel Laureate, who has for years been an advocate of institutional reforms in the field of economic policy.  

The first item on the agenda will be a commemoration of the most eminent Polish scientist, Nicolaus Copernicus, the patron of SGMK, at his monument on Krakowskie Przedmieście in Warsaw. The tribute will be followed by an event at the Andrzej Stelmachowski Dom Polonii. The event is attended by many prominent specialists in economics and banking, rectors of Polish universities, professors and academics.   

As previously announced, Prof. Paul Krugman also came to receive the “Futurist of The Year 2024” award in the Banking category awarded to him in April in a ballot organized by the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School.

Prof. Paul Krugman   

Nobel Prize winner in Economics, creator of the new economic geography and the new theory of international trade. He is a Professor Emeritus of Economics and International Affairs at Princeton University. He has served as a member of the White House Council of Economic Advisors under President Ronald Reagan. Author of more than 20 books and 200 articles in professional journals, also known for his columns in The New York Times. He is currently affiliated with the City University of New York.
