On Thursday, October 17, another focus group interview was held as part of the “Suicidology – knowledge, analysis and educational campaign” project. This time the participants were medical and nursing students from the Medical Faculty of the Medical College at Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw. The purpose of the interview was to examine the level of knowledge of young medical students about the issue of suicide, and their preparedness to intervene in crisis situations.
Students on the importance of suicide prevention in the medical community
The meeting with the students explored the subject of suicide prevention from the perspective of future doctors and nurses. During the discussions, participants were eager to share their experiences in clinical practice and make suggestions on how they could more effectively support patients in emotional crisis in the future. The students’ statements were a valuable source of information that will contribute to the creation of effective prevention tools in the field of suicidology.
These types of interviews are a key component of the project, whose main goal is to develop an educational campaign and prevention activities. Analysis of the collected data allows not only a better understanding of the problem of suicide in Poland, but also provides the knowledge needed to create more individualized and effective strategies to support people in crisis.
Teachers facing the challenges of suicide prevention
It is worth recalling that previous interviews took place in late September and early October in Warsaw and Szczecin, where secondary school teachers were surveyed. There, too, the interviews focused on suicide prevention among students, as well as the availability of psychological support in schools. Teachers were eager to share their experience, pointing out the challenges they face, but also proposing concrete solutions that could improve the situation.
“Suicidology” project – a multi-phase educational and research campaign
The project “Suicidology – knowledge, analysis and educational campaign,” implemented by the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School in Warsaw, aims to raise awareness of the problem of suicide and prepare a wide-ranging educational campaign. The initiative includes research at various levels of society, including educational, professional and medical communities. The data collected will be used to create personalized prevention strategies aimed at supporting people in crisis, as well as preventing critical situations.
