Nobel laureate Prof. Paul Krugman delivered a lecture at the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School

“The Future of Europe” – lecture by American economist, Nobel Prize winner in Economics, Prof. Paul Krugman was the culmination of the academic year at the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School. 

Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School (SGMK) is a new academic institution that interdisciplinary links five “Copernican” disciplines, running a doctoral school within the colleges of Toruń, Olsztyn, Lublin, Cracow and Warsaw.  

SGMK provides students with direct access to the knowledge of scientists and experts from the top research centers, including many Nobel Prize winners

Nobel Laureate in Economics, Professor Paul Krugman creator of the new economic geography and the new theory of international trade was a special guest at the event crowning the academic year of the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School.

Prior to the start of the event highlighting the closing of the academic year at the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School, Prof. Fabrizio Giulimondi, Acting Rector of SGMK, on behalf of the entire academic community of SGMK, together with a delegation from all SGMK Colleges and Headquarters, as well as Nobel laureate Prof. Paul Krugman, Yochanan Shachmurove, Prof. at the City of New York University, Prof. Konrad Raczkowski, Pro-Rector of UKSW, laid a wreath at the monument to Nicolaus Copernicus in front of Staszic Palace in Warsaw. 

This was a tribute paid to the most eminent of Polish scientists, Nicolaus Copernicus the patron of SGMK.

“Futurist of The Year 2024” award in the Banking category for Prof. Paul Krugman 

As previously announced, Prof. Paul Krugman received the “Futurist of The Year 2024” award in the Banking category awarded to him in a ballot organized by the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School.

The Futurist of The Year 2024 ballot awarded outstanding personalities, persons of merit whose work impacts the future, for their significant contributions in a given discipline in nine categories: Astronomy, Economy, Banking, Medicine, Technology, Philosophy/Psychology, Cyber Security, Energy and Charity.  

The Futurist of The Year statuette is a spherical astrolabe – Nicolaus Copernicus’ most sophisticated observational instrument – symbolizing mankind’s quest to explore every area of the universe.

Prof. Paul Krugman, prominent American economist, Nobel Prize winner, advocate for institutional reforms in the field of economic policy gave a special lecture entitled “The Future of Europe” for those attending the end of the academic year ceremony at Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School.

The finale of the event was “The Future of Europe” panel with the participation of Nobel laureate Prof. Paul Krugman, Prof. Yochanan Shachmurove and Prof. Konrad Raczkowski, Vice Chancellor of UKSW.

Prof. Paul Krugman

Nobel Prize winner in Economics, creator of the new economic geography and the new theory of international trade. He is a Professor Emeritus of Economics and International Affairs at Princeton University. He has served as a member of the White House Council of Economic Advisors under President Ronald Reagan. Author of more than 20 books and 200 articles in professional journals, also known for his columns in The New York Times. He is currently affiliated with the City University of New York.
