Poland to host IAC 2027 International Astronautical Congress

After 60 years, the IAC International Astronautical Congress will be held again in Poland.

At this year’s IAC International Astronautical Congress in Milan, it was decided that Poland will host the largest space event in the world – the IAC 2027 International Astronautical Congress. The project will be jointly implemented by: Ministry of Development and Technology, Polish Space Agency, European Space Foundation, City of Poznań, MTP Group and The Way.

Efforts to organize the IAC in Poland lasted nearly two years and included several stages defined by the main organizer – the International Astronautical Federation IAF. The final stage, the selection of the IAC 2027 organizer, took place on the last day of this year’s congress. More than five hundred members of the Federation voted, including all space agencies, universities and companies and NGOs working in the space sector.

The 78th edition of the event will be hosted by the city of Poznań. In autumn 2027, the capital of Greater Poland will be visited by nearly 10,000 guests from around the world. The theme of the congress will be “One Space. Shared Future.”

The first edition of the IAC was held in 1950 in Paris. Since then, the congress has been held in a different country every year. Poland hosted the 15th edition of IAC in 1964, it was held in Warsaw’s Palace of Culture and Science. The IAC is the most highly regarded event in the global space sector, and each year attracts up to 10,000 participants, including ministers and members of parliaments from around the world, heads of space agencies and space companies, as well as representatives of the world of science. The next editions will be held: 2025 – Sydney (Australia), 2026 – Antalya (Turkey).

The International Astronautical Federation – IAF was established in 1951, and it has 468 members from 75 countries, including leading space agencies (NASA, ESA, Canadian Space Agency (CSA), companies, research institutions (Aerospace Research Institute, CERN, Rocket Research Institute), universities, societies, associations, institutes and museums from around the world.
