Prof. dr hab. Gertruda Uścińska, Rector of the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School, took part in a congress marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Polish Society for Social Policy (PTPS), a scientific movement established in 1924 that in recent decades has become one of the most important associations of social policy researchers and practitioners. The PTPS 100th Anniversary Congress is being held on December 3-4, 2024, in Warsaw, as part of the 41st annual national conference of social policy makers.

The congress participants discussed the achievements of social policy, what social policy is and what it should be today, as well as social challenges and new threats.

Among those discussing the last decades of social policy were former ministers and experts: Prof. Gertruda Uścińska, Joanna Staręga-Piasek, Dr. Michał Boni, Prof. Jacek Męcina, Dr. Elżbieta Bojanowska, Cezary Miżejewski, Dr. Agnieszka Chłoń-Domińczak and Zbigniew Derdziuk, President of ZUS.

During the session “Determinants of social policy development in Poland,” the SGMK Rector gave a talk on new challenges in social policy.

Scientists and practitioners focused on determinants of social policy development in Poland, contemporary challenges, social services and deinstitutionalization, practical solutions, and the use of technology in social policy development. The annual PTPS Congress is an opportunity to review the latest scientific research, publications, trends and practical inspiration.

During the congress, a jubilee book “Social Policy Science in Poland. Centennial of the Polish Society for Social Policy 1924-2024” (ed. Julian Auleytner, Mirosław Grewiński) was presented.

PTPS has been active since 1924, bringing together social policy experts from the most prominent academic and scientific institutions in Poland.
