The 20th edition of the “Popularizer of Science” competition has been launched. The initiative is aimed at scientists, journalists, animators, teams and institutions who share scientific knowledge in an accessible and encouraging way. Entries can be submitted until September 15.
The Science Popularizer competition is organized by the Science in Poland platform of the Polish Press Agency Foundation. It recognizes people and institutions who popularize science, help others to get to know and better understand the phenomena occurring around us, present the latest results of scientific research and share their knowledge and passion for science.
Competition categories
Awards will be given in five categories:
- Scientist: for science popularizers holding at least a doctoral degree in science, e.g. researchers, academic teachers
- Animator: for those promoting science who do not hold a degree in science, such as students, doctoral students, administrative staff of universities.
- Team: for groups of people who promote science together, e.g. science clubs, popular science project teams, groups of science animators.
- Institution: for scientific and non-scientific institutions, such as research institutes, science centers, non-governmental organizations involved in the popularization of science.
- Media: for journalists, editorial teams, bloggers and website developers who create popular science content.
From among all the candidates the jury will also select the winner of the Grand Prize. This can be a popularizer – a person, team or institution – from any category of the competition.
How to enter the competition?
Entries can be submitted until September 15 via form available on the Science in Poland website, where you can also find the competition rules. Entries can be made both on behalf of yourself, as well as on behalf of third parties. It is important that the submitted candidate’s activity has lasted for at least two years. The results will be announced in December 2024.
