Prof. Gertruda Uścińska honored with 80th anniversary of Warsaw Uprising medal

Prof. Gertruda Uścińska, Rector of the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School, was honored with a commemorative medal to mark the 80th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. The medal was presented at the headquarters of the Association of Warsaw Insurgents.

The medal was presented to the SGMK Rector by Janusz Maksymowicz, Vice President of the General Board of the Association of Warsaw Insurgents, Member of the Warsaw Rising Museum Council, and Col. pilot Bogdan Bartnikowski, Treasurer of the General Board of the Association of Warsaw Insurgents.

Association of Warsaw Insurgents (ZPW) is a veterans’ organization merged with the Association of Soldiers of the Warsaw Uprising, established in 1989, emerging from the Group of the Resistance Movement Communities that operated as part of the Society of Fighters for Freedom and Democracy (ZBoWiD). ZPW is an organization of former soldiers of the 1944 Warsaw Uprising, regardless of their affiliation with underground organizations, and soldiers of the 1st Polish Army who fought in September 1944 on the bridgeheads.
