This past Sunday, October 6, Kępa Potocka Park in Warsaw hosted the fourth edition of the Orlen Paralympic Run – an event that once again united physical activity enthusiasts in the spirit of sportsmanship and integration. This year’s edition, inspired by the Paralympic Games in Paris, was held under the slogan “In this run, everyone is a winner.” The community of students and employees of the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School in Warsaw also took an active part in the event, competing in various categories and over several distances.
Diversity and integration: 2 distances
The SGMK team, which competed under the university’s name, showed that physical activity is possible for everyone, regardless of age or fitness level. Some participants opted for a 1-kilometer inclusive marathon, in which one could run, walk or move in a wheelchair, using Nordic walking poles, or even with an assistance dog. The event was an opportunity to have fun together and inspire each other. For many, it was a chance to show that movement is the basis of health, both physical and mental.
There were also representatives of the SGMK, who decided to tackle the longer distance of 5 km, whether in the form of a run or Nordic walking. The competition was primarily symbolic, so regardless of the result, each person who finished the run could enjoy a commemorative medal and the satisfaction of spending the day actively.
Shared mission and values
It is worth noting that for members of our community, participation in the Orlen Paralympic Run is not only about sports, but also about working for
inclusiveness and solidarity. All athletes of the SGMK team, regardless of the chosen distance, had the opportunity to experience together this special day, full of mutual motivation and positive energy.
We sincerely congratulate our representatives and are already looking forward to the next sports challenges!
