Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School

SGMK employees as Sherpas of Hope

Employees of the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School joined the Sherpas of Hope Foundation’s campaign. As volunteers, they helped people with disabilities fulfill their dreams of climbing mountain peaks.

The Sherpas of Hope Foundation organizes special mountain expeditions tailored to individual needs, providing essential support to people with disabilities. It focuses on creating opportunities for the participants, enabling them to break their own limits and overcome barriers.

From August 30 to September 1, 2024, SGMK employees, as Sherpas of Hope, supported people with disabilities to climb Tatra Mountains. This remarkable event was attended by nearly 500 people who came from all over Poland. Our employees supported Nikolai, who is struggling with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), on his way to the Morskie Oko lake.

Participation in the event was a chance to discuss the accessibility of universities for people with disabilities, and to learn more about their needs and expectations.

The Sherpas of Hope Foundation is guided by the belief that mountain dreams are accessible to everyone. It is committed to building a society where disability becomes a challenge possible to overcome.
