Last weekend, focus group interviews (FGIs) were held with elementary and secondary school teachers in Warsaw and Szczecin. These meetings, part of the project “Suicidology – state of knowledge analysis and educational campaign,” yielded extremely valuable conclusions regarding educators’ knowledge and awareness of the issue of youth suicide.
Participants were eager to share their experiences, both pointing out challenges and proposing specific solutions. Through these discussions, we gained a better understanding of what educational activities and psychological support are already available in schools and how they can be improved. The meeting also gave us a deeper look at the needs of teachers in the context of suicide prevention, which will allow us to develop more targeted prevention strategies tailored to specific professional and educational environments.
The information gathered will be crucial in further development of our project, which aims to introduce effective tools to support both teachers and students in mental health and crisis prevention.
“Suicidology – state of knowledge analysis and educational campaign” project implemented by the Nicolaus Copernicus Superior School in Warsaw aims to study the level of public awareness of suicide among young people and educate the public about prevention. As part of the project, we are conducting extensive research, including interviews with teachers, parents and specialists, which provide us with valuable information on attitudes, needs and effective forms of support. The results of the research will be used to develop comprehensive educational programs and support tools that will be implemented in educational institutions to better protect young people from emotional crises.–
