Northeastern Illinois University Prof. Christina Ciecierski became a new Dean of the College of Economic Sciences and Management at SGMK
Christina Ciecierski is a Professor of Economics at Northeastern Illinois University. She received her PhD in economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
As health economist, she focuses her research on the impact of different economic factors on public health issues, particularly smoking, cancer and youth substance use.
A big part of her work is devoted to promoting health equity among young adults, immigrants and people from the lower socioeconomic groups. She has collaborated on this issue with many state and international health organizations and policy-making bodies.
Prof. Ciecierski is an author of numerous research publications in the field of health economics and has participated as an expert in various conferences, workshops and seminars.
From 2012 to 2013 she served as President of the Illinois Economics Association. For her outstanding academic work at the Northern Illinois University, she has been recognized with three Faculty Excellence Awards for Research (2009), Service (2014) and Teaching (2019).
Dr. Mikołaj Handschke became a new Vice Dean of the College of Economic Sciences and Management at SGMK
Mikolaj Handschke specializes in finance and banking. He holds a PhD in economic sciences from the Poznań University of Economics and Bussines. He is the author of publications on broadly understood economic transformation processes (capital market, labor market, systemic transformation).
Dr. Handshke is a lecturer at the Poznań University of Economics and Bussines and a winner of numerous awards, including those of the Minister of National Education and Sports and the Rector of UEP for original and creative scientific achievements. He cooperates with many universities as lecturer in microeconomics and managerial economics.
From 2016 to 2017, Dr, Handshke was a member of the supervisory board of Polski Holding Nieruchomości S.A., where he served as a member of the Audit Committee and chairman of the Strategy Committee. From 2017 to 2021, he served as a member of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, the Risk Committee and the Strategy and Development Committee of the Supervisory Board of Alior Bank S.A. From 2020 to 2021 he was delegated to serve as Alior Bank’s Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors, responsible for the financial operations (CFO). From 2022 to 2024 he was a Board Representative for ESG and Sales Development of the Polish Mutual Insurance Company (Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń Wzajemnych Polski Zakład Ubezpieczeń Wzajemnych).
